1. M56 Versions
Three power and speed versions were made for Batavus USA models. 1.0 horsepower, 1.5 and 2.0. Each USA state required a different version.
Only four things are different between the speed versions. Everything else is the same.

1. Parts for Laura M56 Engine
The parts list below is made from the Batavus USA Spare Parts Catalog for 1978-80 Regency VA and Regency HS (20, 25, 30 mph). Combined with that are parts from the Trac USA Parts List for 1982-86 Clipper, Eagle and Hawk (25 and 30 mph).
In 1978-80 the M56 engine was made by Laura in Holland, mostly for Batavus mopeds. It was remade in 1982-85 by Daelim in Korea, mostly for Trac mopeds. The Trac remake is 90% the same. Only some pulley, pedal and drive shaft parts are different, shown below in a lighter color shade.

Note 1: The original belt T5X395 with 79 teeth was unavailable for many years from about 1990 to 2020. During that time the only belt available was one tooth (5 mm) shorter T5X390, sold online by Get-to-It Sales. The shorter belt was too tight unless the rear pulley teeth were shaved down. Many M56 rear pulleys have had their teeth shaved. With shaved teeth the shorter belt fits but the original belt is too loose.
To get a correct fitting belt, here is how to tell if the tops of the teeth have been shaved off. Original uses T5X395. Shaved uses T5X390. This is important because there is no way to adjust the belt tension, and no automatic belt tensioner.
