About the Myrons Rides:
Myrons Mopeds has been having monthly group rides since June 2003. The rides have between 20 and 40 people, most of the time, with a maximum of 55 and a minimum of 8 attendees. As of Dec 2011 the ride count is 90 and rising. Shaun plans the ride and leads. Since 2009 the rides have been “Slow Rides”, with a speed limit of 30 mph, allow ordinary mopeds to keep up and to increase everyone’s safety. Only safe, reliable, and legal mopeds, small scooters, and small motorcycles are allowed. Our definition of small is if you can load the bike, all by yourself, into the back of a van without a ramp, then it’s small.
The first Myrons Mopeds ride was the idea of Ray Fales, who originally wanted to do a barbeque. Shaun swayed him to do a ride instead. It was supposed to be a one time event, planned months earlier when Shaun was hospitalized with lymphoma. Once the ride was over, everyone wanted to do it again because it was so fun. So Shaun hosted Ride 2 a month later, then 3, and now they’re planning ride 88 for Sept 26 2011. It’s extremely fun to cruise to off beat places in a parade of buzzing motorbikes.
